GeoIP List Conversion for Security Tools “geo2nginx.pl”

Do you know GeoIP? A database that “knows” the country behind an internet address? GeoIP can be used with web servers to add country information to every log entry – this is extremly useful when you want to learn from what country your page is hit.

But the same database is useful for your preferred security tool. Unfortunately, the GeoIP notation is not compatible with most of the open source security tools and therefore I wrote a very short article how to convert GeoIP target lists to one of the following notation.

192.168.100.0-192.168.100.255
or
192.168.100.0/24
